About the EXIF Viewer
Before you share a photo, find out what it gives away. This EXIF viewer reads every metadata tag stored in a JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC or TIFF image and shows it in plain language, including a privacy check that flags GPS coordinates, device serial numbers, owner names and timestamps.
If the photo contains a location, you get a direct link to see it on a map, which shows exactly how precise phone GPS tags can be. One click then removes everything and gives you a clean copy.

Frequently asked questions
How do I check if a photo has location data?
Drop the photo into the EXIF viewer. If it has GPS data, a red 'Location found' warning appears together with the coordinates and a map link.
Can I see EXIF data on iPhone?
Yes. Open this page in Safari, tap the upload box, choose 'Photo Library' and pick a photo. Choose 'Actual size' or 'Most compatible' as needed: iOS removes location only if you turned it off in the share options.
Why does my screenshot have no EXIF data?
Screenshots are created by the operating system, not a camera, so they usually contain little or no EXIF data, although they may contain software and date tags.
Is the EXIF Viewer free?
Yes. The EXIF Viewer is completely free with no sign-up, no watermarks, no daily limits and no premium tier.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. FileStripe processes your files locally in your web browser using JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded, so the EXIF Viewer is safe for private photos and confidential documents and even works offline once the page has loaded.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. The EXIF Viewer works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Samsung Internet on phones, tablets and computers. On a phone you can pick files from your photo library or files app and share the result straight to another app.
