About the EXIF Data Remover
Photos taken on a phone or camera contain EXIF data: a hidden block of information that can include the exact GPS coordinates where the picture was taken, the date and time, the phone or camera model, its serial number and the software used to edit it. When you post or send the original file, anyone can read that information.
This EXIF remover deletes that metadata without re-compressing your photo. For JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF files FileStripe removes the metadata blocks directly from the file, so the image pixels stay byte-for-byte identical and there is zero quality loss. HEIC photos from iPhones are converted to a clean JPG.

Frequently asked questions
What is EXIF data?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is metadata stored inside photos by cameras and phones. It records camera settings such as aperture and ISO, the date and time, the device make and model, and often the GPS location where the photo was taken.
Does removing EXIF data reduce photo quality?
No. For JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF FileStripe removes the metadata segments directly without decoding or re-saving the image, so the pixels are untouched. Only HEIC and a few rarer formats need to be re-encoded.
Will my photo rotate sideways after removing EXIF?
Phones often save photos sideways and use an EXIF orientation tag to display them upright. With 'Keep orientation' on (the default), FileStripe keeps only that single harmless tag so your photos stay the right way up.
Do social networks remove EXIF data automatically?
Some large platforms strip EXIF from public posts, but many do not, and files sent by email, cloud links, messaging apps in 'document' mode, forums, dating sites and marketplaces usually keep all the original metadata.
Is the EXIF Data Remover free?
Yes. The EXIF Data Remover is completely free with no sign-up, no watermarks, no daily limits and no premium tier.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. FileStripe processes your files locally in your web browser using JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded, so the EXIF Data Remover is safe for private photos and confidential documents and even works offline once the page has loaded.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. The EXIF Data Remover works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Samsung Internet on phones, tablets and computers. On a phone you can pick files from your photo library or files app and share the result straight to another app.
