About FileStripe

FileStripe is a collection of file tools that run inside your web browser. When you add a file, it's read and processed on your own computer or phone by the page itself. It isn't sent to a server, so there's nothing to wait for and nothing stored anywhere. That also means the tools keep working if your connection drops, and you can add FileStripe to your home screen like an app.

Most people come here for one of a few jobs: turning iPhone HEIC photos into JPGs, getting a photo under the size limit of an upload form, extracting the audio from a video, or merging and signing PDFs. The site started as a metadata remover, though, and that's still the part we care most about. Photos record where they were taken and documents record who wrote them, and it's easy to share that without realising. Every image you convert here comes out without that data.

All tools are free and there's no account. You can convert as many files as you like, in batches, and download them as a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

Is FileStripe really free?

Yes. Every tool is free with no account, no watermarks, no file limits and no premium plan.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The tools run in your browser, so your files are processed on your own device and never sent to a server. You can check this by loading a tool, switching off Wi-Fi and using it anyway.

How do I remove EXIF data from a photo?

Open the EXIF remover and add your photos. JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF files are cleaned without re-compressing the image, HEIC photos are saved as clean JPGs, and each result is checked to confirm no EXIF or GPS data is left.

Can I use FileStripe offline?

Yes. After you have opened a tool once, it is cached and keeps working without an internet connection. You can also install FileStripe as an app from your browser menu.

Which file formats are supported?

Images: JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, TIFF, GIF, BMP, SVG, ICO. Documents: PDF, TXT, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, ODT, ODS, ODP. Audio and video: MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, FLAC, MP4, MOV, WebM. Plus any file for checksums, ZIP and Base64.
