How to Remove the White Background from a Logo or Signature
Make the white background of a logo, signature or product photo transparent in seconds, free. When it works, when it doesn't, and how to avoid white halos.
A logo saved as a JPG on white looks like a sticker when you put it on a coloured slide or website. What you want is a PNG with a transparent background.
The quick way
- Open Remove white background and add your image.
- The background colour is detected from the corners and removed.
- Download the transparent PNG.
By default only the background connected to the edges is removed, so white parts inside the logo (like the hole in an "O" that's enclosed by colour, or a white highlight) are kept.
Fixing leftovers and halos
- Some background remains: raise the tolerance a little. JPG compression makes "white" slightly uneven.
- A pale halo around the edges: raise the edge softness so edge pixels fade instead of staying white.
- Parts of the logo disappeared: lower the tolerance, or the logo contains colours very close to the background.
Signatures
Photograph or scan your signature on plain white paper, remove the background, and you have a transparent signature you can drop onto documents. For PDFs, Sign PDF also lets you draw one directly.
When you need a vector
For printing large or cutting vinyl, convert the transparent logo to SVG with PNG to SVG.
What this can't do
It removes one plain colour. People or objects in front of busy backgrounds need an AI background remover.
